This is a simple recipe full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties from the cacao and cacao butter. Warm up any non-dairy milk and it’s ready in minutes.
I add a little bit of grated cacao butter (extracted from cacao beans and has the same divine smell) to give it a depth and richness. It can be omitted.
hot chocolate
makes 1 cup
• 1 cup non dairy milk (I like cashew milk as it’s thick and creamy)
• 1 tbsp cacao powder
• 1 tbsp amber maple syrup
• OPTIONAL cacao butter, quarter size chunk
• toothpick dipped in peppermint essential oil, stir in hot chocolate (orange essential oil would also work)
WARM the milk in a small pot on low.
ADD the cacao powder, grated cacao butter, if using, and maple syrup and stir to combine.
REMOVE from heat. Dip the toothpick in the essential oil and stir the hot chocolate. A little goes a long way.
Done. Serve & enjoy!
